During your life, your pelvic floor will undergo changes, whether you're male or female, have been through pregnancy or not. So, how do you keep a healthy pelvic floor to ensure you can go to the toilet when needed and hold it when it's not? Hi, Iโm Leanne, a Pilates and yoga teacher, online coach, and personal trainer. Having rehabilitated my pelvic floor twice, I've been told it's the strongest. Here are my 3 solid tips:
Pelvic Floor Tips:
1. Get Checked: Women should get a pelvic floor physio to check the strength and relaxed tone of the muscles with an internal examination before and after pregnancy and throughout life.
2. Kegels & Breath Work: Strengthen your pelvic floor with kegels and breath work, but remember to relax these muscles to prevent stress incontinence.
3. Breathing Technique: Inhale to push out your belly, ribs rise, and chest expands to relax the muscles. Exhale to contract and strengthen the pelvic floor.
